U.S. Army Expands LMI-Built Training System to Serve up to 2M Enterprise-Wide
November 18, 2025
Tysons, Va. — The U.S. Army has announced the enterprise-wide expansion of the Army Training Information System (ATIS), developed and deployed by LMI, establishing it as the Army’s unified platform for planning, managing, and delivering training at scale. ATIS is a unified, cloud-based platform that replaces over 30 legacy training systems, consolidating the Army’s global training operations into one modern, secure environment. As the authoritative system of record for the Army, the platform will reduce operational costs by 24 percent while improving readiness through faster updates, consistent data, and real-time visibility across the force.
Since LMI launched the training platform in 2024, ATIS has delivered measurable improvements in access, efficiency, and system reliability – results that led the Army to extend the platform to up to 2 million eligible users by the end of the year. (See how LMI helped the Army modernize its enterprise system in the ATIS Case Study.)
“ATIS is proof that modernization doesn’t have to take decades,” said Josh Wilson, President and incoming CEO at LMI. “When you pair commercial pace with proximity to mission, you get transformation that actually moves at the speed of the warfighter. That’s what the Army achieved with ATIS, and it’s a model every service can follow.”
The success began with a simple premise: unify a fragmented training infrastructure into one scalable, secure environment. For years, the Army’s training infrastructure was spread across dozens of systems, each with its own databases, user interfaces, and maintenance requirements. This created inconsistent data, redundant costs, and barriers to collaboration. Trainers and soldiers often spent more time navigating systems than executing missions.
ATIS changes that. The platform unifies every phase of the training lifecycle, from planning and scheduling to resource management and performance tracking, into a single, intuitive environment centered on the soldier. Its cloud-native architecture enables system-wide updates and integrates with other Army systems of record while maintaining the highest levels of security and compliance.
“ATIS puts the soldier at the center of training,” said Karen Goodson, Vice President of the Army Market at LMI. “It simplifies the user experience and increases accessibility. It also ensures every unit across the Army can plan, execute, and assess readiness using the same, trusted data source. This is how we think digital transformation should look in defense: purpose-built for the mission, not retrofit from the commercial world.”
The Army’s expansion of ATIS reinforces its commitment to modern, data-driven training that scales globally and delivers consistent readiness across the force. LMI continues to deliver secure, scalable solutions that help defense organizations operate with speed, precision, and confidence.
